My name is Meghan Beam, and I am a Certified Speech-Language Specialist. I have been passionate about the field of speech-language pathology since I can remember. My profession has married my love of helping children and families, with my love of language and communication. I received my Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Services, as well as my Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology from SUNY Plattsburgh. I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). I have thirteen years of experience working in the school based setting with children ranging from Pre-K through the 8th grade. I have worked with a variety of different communication disorders, including experience with autism, receptive/expressive language, auditory processing, phonological speech disorders, articulation, apraxia, fluency, selective mutism, and students limited social skills (pragmatic language deficits), as well as executive functioning deficits. I have been a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) since 1998. It is my goal to work closely with parents, classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure that the children I service are getting the most from their therapy sessions and having fun while they are learning their new skills. This combination yields the most successful results and helps with the carryover of newly learned skills to other communication partners and environments. My email address is Meghan.beam@fpks.org.
